AI Receptionist for Plumbers UK (2026): Sayora vs Ringmere vs Clara vs Jodie vs Vocalenda

Five UK AI receptionists a plumber, heating engineer or electrician would shortlist, checked on the same day on their own pricing pages: three of them book the job into your diary during the call, two send you the details to book yourself, on their published pages. Prices run from £39.99 to £49 a month for the entry plans. Here is what each one does when the phone goes while you are under a sink, and the one question that decides which is worth paying for.

AI Receptionist for Plumbers UK (2026): Sayora vs Ringmere vs Clara vs Jodie vs Vocalenda

The disclosure first, because it shapes everything after it: we make one of the five products below. Vocalenda is ours. Read this the way you would read any vendor's comparison, then go and ring the demo lines yourself. Every price and every claim here comes from the provider's own published UK pages, fetched twice on 15 September 2026, and where a page does not say something we say "not stated" rather than guess.

Updated 25 September 2026. One correction, and it goes against us: Ringmere's integrations page and home page FAQ, checked 24 September 2026, name Outlook / Microsoft 365 as well as Google Calendar. Our 15 September edition said Vocalenda was the only one of the five whose pages named Outlook.

The short answer: five UK AI receptionists sell to plumbers and heating engineers, from £39.99 to £49 a month. Sayora, Ringmere and Vocalenda book the job into your calendar during the call. Clara and Jodie take the details and send them to you. Pick capture if you price every job yourself; pick booking if you want no call-back list at 6pm.

The under-the-sink problem

You are on your back under a kitchen sink, torch in your mouth, and the phone goes on the floor next to you. You let it ring. Everybody does. By six o'clock there are four numbers to ring back and two of them have already had someone else round.

That is the job, not a character flaw. When Fix Radio surveyed over 220 tradespeople in 2022, 60% said they struggled to answer the phone while at work, and 34% believed they had lost work because of it. From the customer's side, YouGov polling for Answer4u in June 2026 found that 37% of UK adults would give up on a call within 60 seconds and ring a competitor instead. We wrote about the three-quotes habit that sits behind that number in our earlier post on tradespeople and missed calls.

A small industry now answers that phone for you. We compared the five UK products with published pricing that a plumber would shortlist, on their own sites, on the same day: Sayora and Ringmere run pages for your trade, Clara and Jodie sell to UK sole traders and local service businesses generally.

The real question: what's in the diary at 6pm?

All five answer the call, around the clock. The fork, and the thing to settle before you compare a single price, is what exists when the call ends.

With a capture product, what exists is a message: name, number, address, what is wrong, how urgent. Genuinely useful, and far better than voicemail. But the booking is still yours to make, tonight, from the van, to a customer who may have stopped waiting.

With a booking product, what exists is a job in your diary: checked against the times you actually have free, written into your calendar, confirmed to the customer by text, all while you finish the sink. There is no list.

Neither answer is wrong. A capture product keeps you pricing every job before it gets a slot; a booking product takes the second job off your evening. Just do not pay for one thinking you are getting the other.

The five, at a glance

Prices are each provider's published UK pricing, checked 15 September 2026, for the plan a one-van business would actually buy. One warning before the table: it is not like for like. Sayora and Jodie publish unlimited minutes and Clara unlimited answered calls; Ringmere's Starter includes 150 minutes and meters after that; Vocalenda includes 500 minutes and pauses when they run out. Trials run from 7 to 30 days.

The row to read twice is "during the call". Everything else is a price or a tier. That row is the product, and no tier upgrade changes it.

How much does an AI receptionist for a plumber cost?

From £39.99 to £49 a month for the entry plans, on the providers' own pricing pages checked 15 September 2026, with no setup fee published by any of the five and every one of them cancel anytime or no contract.

Sayora is £49 a month for everything it does: unlimited minutes, a dedicated UK number, 24/7 cover, lead summaries by text or email, spam screening, calendar booking, recordings and transcripts. Its pricing page calls £49 an early-access price, "the price while we onboard our first customers", and says early customers keep it as the company grows. Unlimited comes with a fair-use line: "if a number is being abused we'll talk to you first". Seven-day free trial.

Ringmere is tiered. Starter is £49 a month with 150 call minutes and a free UK local number, then £0.25 a minute; Growth is £99 with 240 minutes across calls and chat, SMS appointment reminders and multi-staff scheduling; Pro is £249 with 700 minutes. Prices exclude VAT at checkout. Fourteen-day free trial.

Clara is the cheapest way in at £39.99 a month, or £399 a year (£33.25 a month). Clara Pro is £69.99 a month or £699 a year, and adds live call transfers, automated text follow-ups and multiple users at £29 a seat. Seven-day free trial.

Jodie is £49 a month with unlimited minutes, no per-minute charges and no contract, and a seven-day free trial that asks for no card.

Vocalenda (ours) is one plan: £49 a month on the founding rate for the first ten businesses, locked in for as long as they stay subscribed, and £69 standard after that. It includes 500 call minutes a month, around 250 bookings at a typical two-minute call, with a 500-minute top-up at £59 if you run out. Thirty-day free trial, and the first three of those ten founding businesses willing to share their real numbers get 60 days free in total. Full detail on our pricing page.

Sayora, honestly

Sayora is the product built most squarely for your trade. It is an Edinburgh company, and its plumbers page reads like it was written by someone who has taken the 2am burst-pipe call: when it comes, Sayora "picks up, takes the details, and flags the urgency in your text". On booking, its own words are that it "checks your connected calendar and books an available slot", into Google Calendar or Cal.com, and sends the customer a confirmation text from your business name. Unlimited minutes and a UK number at £49 is the strongest headline in the table, and we will say so plainly.

Two things to weigh, both from its own page: "Sayora currently handles inbound calls and does not offer live call transfer", so a customer who wants you, now, gets their details taken instead; and the calendar list is Google Calendar and Cal.com, a separate online booking calendar, with "more calendars on the way", so an Outlook diary is not there yet.

Pick Sayora if: you run Google Calendar, you take a lot of long calls and never want to see a minutes meter, and you are happy that a caller who asks for you gets a message rather than a transfer.

Ringmere, honestly

Ringmere is the closest thing to Vocalenda in this table, and it is the one we would want you to compare us against. It books into Google Calendar or Outlook / Microsoft 365 and, in its own words, "checks live availability at the moment of booking, so it will not hand two callers the same slot". Urgent or unhappy callers "go straight to your team, with full context", which is the transfer Sayora does not do. It has a plumbers and heating engineers page and a separate one for garages and MOT centres, and its Growth plan adds SMS reminders and multi-staff scheduling.

The thing to be clear-eyed about is the meter. Starter's 150 minutes is about 75 two-minute calls a month, then £0.25 a minute plus VAT; a one-van firm taking eight calls a working day passes 150 minutes by the end of the second week. Reminders and the multi-staff diary live on the £99 Growth plan, so read the table as £49 for confirmations and £99 for reminders and two-way texting.

Pick Ringmere if: you run Google Calendar or Outlook, you want a live transfer to a person, and your call volume sits comfortably under 150 minutes, or you are happy paying £99 for the fuller plan.

Clara and Jodie, honestly

These two are capture products, and both are well made. Clara, at £39.99, is the cheapest way to stop losing calls, with a UK demo number on its site you can ring before you trial, which we respect because it is the same proof we lean on. Its own description of the workflow is the honest one: "Clara answers, captures the reason for the call, and sends the details to your mobile", and "the details land in the app for follow-up". Clara Pro at £69.99 adds live call transfers and automated text follow-ups.

Jodie, at £49 with unlimited minutes, answers and sends you "a full summary by text or email, including the customer's name, reason for calling, and contact info". Its own how-it-works puts the next step plainly: get the summary, then "call or WhatsApp them back, and book the work". Its trial asks for no card at all.

Neither writes the job into a diary during the call, on the pages we checked. That is the design, not a fault, and if you want to price every job yourself before it gets a slot it is the right shape at the lower price.

Pick Clara or Jodie if: you want the cheapest reliable way to never miss a call, and you genuinely prefer to ring back and book every job yourself.

Vocalenda, honestly

Ours, so judge this section hardest. Vocalenda answers the call and finishes the booking: it reads your real Google Calendar or Outlook, offers times you actually have free, writes the job in while the customer is still on the line, and texts them a confirmation from the number they rang, or from your Vocalenda number signed with your business name if you forward your existing line, then a reminder the day before, for jobs booked more than a day ahead. When the customer rings back to move Thursday, it finds the job, moves it and updates your diary, and only the number that booked a job can change it. Set a quote visit up as one of your services and the bigger jobs, a bathroom refit, a full rewire, get booked into that slot so you price them in person. It answers from the key information you wrote, your callout fee, your prices, the areas you cover, in its own words, and takes a message when a question is not covered. It remembers your regulars too: the landlord with three rentals, which door to use, the dog that needs shutting in the kitchen, said once and used the next time that number rings. If two customers ring at the same time, both get answered, and a caller who asks for you is put through to a number other than the one you divert to us, such as a second mobile. A few of you out on jobs? Each person connects their own calendar, up to five, and customers can ask for someone by name. All of that is in the one £49 plan, no tiers and no per-seat charges, with a 30-day trial against the seven or fourteen days elsewhere in the table.

Now the trade-offs, because a comparison that hides its own product's limits is not one. Vocalenda includes 500 minutes a month; neither Sayora nor Jodie publishes a per-minute meter, and Sayora's unlimited carries a fair-use line. If your line runs hot enough to use all 500, around 250 two-minute calls, our line stops answering until your billing month starts again, and you will see it coming on your dashboard well before it happens, or you buy a one-off 500-minute top-up for £59, while theirs keep answering. Our booking flow needs your diary in Google Calendar or Outlook; if your jobs live only inside job-management software with no calendar mirror, the capture products fit your workflow as it is today, and Sayora and Ringmere have the same calendar-shaped limit. And £49 is the founding rate for the first ten businesses, not the forever price for everyone: the standard price is £69, which is £20 more than Sayora and just under Clara Pro's £69.99.

Pick Vocalenda if: there is more than one of you out on jobs, because Ringmere keeps multi-staff scheduling for its £99 plan; or your diary is Outlook and you want the reminder text on the £49 plan; or what you actually want is the job in the diary, the customer texted, and no call-back list at 6pm. There is a fuller picture of it working a plumber's day on our tradespeople page.

What happens at 2am?

All five answer around the clock, and none of them can decide for you whether a dripping overflow is an emergency. What differs is what reaches you: Sayora takes the details and flags the urgency in a text; Ringmere marks the call urgent, texts you immediately, and can pass the caller to your team; Vocalenda follows the out-of-hours arrangements you wrote, leaves a message on your dashboard with a notification, or puts the caller through to the number you set; Clara Pro transfers live; Jodie sends the summary. Whichever you pick, write the 2am script yourself, then ring your own number from a friend's phone one night and listen to it.

Does it work with Jobber, Tradify or ServiceM8?

None of the five names Jobber, Tradify or ServiceM8 as a direct integration on its published pages. Sayora books into Google Calendar or Cal.com; Ringmere and Vocalenda book into Google Calendar or Outlook; Clara and Jodie do not book during the call. So the real question is which way your job software talks to Google Calendar, and the three most common answers, from the vendors' own help pages checked 15 September 2026, all differ.

Jobber syncs one way, from Jobber out to your calendar app: its help page says "you will see your Jobber appointments in your calendar app, but you won't see any of your personal appointments in your Jobber account", and Google refreshes "roughly every 12 hours" (Jobber help). A booking product will see your Jobber jobs in Google, up to half a day late, and the jobs it books land in Google, not in Jobber.

Tradify syncs the other way, from Google into Tradify: "a one-way sync connection to bring your personal calendar appointments across to Tradify from Google Calendar so you never double book yourself" (Tradify help). That direction suits a booking product: a job written into Google appears on your Tradify scheduler. What Tradify does not do is push its own jobs to Google, so keep Google as the diary the receptionist reads, or it cannot see what Tradify already has.

ServiceM8 pushes jobs to Google and nothing back: of the Google copy its help page says "you can only view it", and changes go through "the ServiceM8 Dispatch Board, or the iPhone/iPad app" (ServiceM8 help). ServiceM8 jobs reach Google "within a few minutes", unlike Jobber's half-day refresh, so the receptionist sees your jobs promptly and books around them, and you re-key its bookings into ServiceM8.

If your software does none of this, a capture product matches how you work today: you carry on booking in your own system from the summary. Ask the vendor before you trial anything, and ask specifically which direction.

Try them before you decide

Every product here has a free trial, so use them: forward your line for a week and count what lands, a list or a diary. Before any trial, ring a demo line the way your customers would: ask for a price, ask if you cover their postcode, book a boiler service, then ring back and move it. Clara publishes a demo number and Sayora's page invites you to ring its demo line; ours is +44 7888 866273. The demo diary belongs to a barbershop, but the manner, the booking flow and the confirmation text are exactly what your customers would get.

The bottom line

All five stop the under-the-sink call from becoming a lost job, and any of them beats voicemail. Clara is the cheapest capture product at £39.99. Jodie pairs capture with unlimited minutes at £49. Sayora books the job at £49 with unlimited minutes and a UK number, but does not currently transfer a call. Ringmere books the job and transfers, at £49 for 150 minutes or £99 with the texts. Vocalenda, at the same £49 on the founding rate, books the job into Google Calendar or Outlook and texts the customer a confirmation, plus a reminder for jobs booked more than a day ahead, with up to five people on the one plan and a 30-day trial.

Decide what you want in the diary at 6pm. The rest is just pricing.

Common questions

How much does an AI receptionist for a plumber cost in the UK?

Between £39.99 and £49 a month for the entry plans of the five UK products that market to plumbers, on their own pricing pages checked 15 September 2026. Sayora is £49 a month with unlimited minutes, which it calls an early-access price. Ringmere is £49 for 150 call minutes, then £0.25 a minute, with £99 and £249 plans above it. Clara is £39.99, or £69.99 for the Pro plan with live transfers. Jodie is £49 with unlimited minutes. Vocalenda is £49 a month on the founding rate for the first ten businesses, £69 standard, with 500 call minutes included and a 500-minute top-up at £59. None of the five publishes a setup fee, and all five are cancel anytime or no contract on their own pages.

Which AI receptionists actually book the job into a plumber's diary?

Three of the five. Sayora says it checks your connected calendar and books an available slot, into Google Calendar or Cal.com. Ringmere says it checks live availability and books into Google Calendar or Outlook / Microsoft 365. Vocalenda reads your live Google Calendar or Outlook, one calendar per person for up to five people, and writes the job in while the customer is still on the line. Clara and Jodie are capture products on their published pages: they answer, take the details and send them to your phone, and you ring back and book the job yourself.

What is the difference between Sayora and Vocalenda?

Both answer 24/7 and book into your calendar during the call. Sayora includes unlimited minutes and a UK number at £49 a month, books into Google Calendar or Cal.com, and says on its own page that it currently does not offer live call transfer. Vocalenda is £49 on the founding rate or £69 standard, includes 500 minutes, books into Google Calendar or Outlook for up to five people with their own calendars, texts the customer a confirmation, and a reminder the day before for jobs booked further ahead, and puts a caller who asks for you through to a number you set, other than the one you divert to us. If you run Outlook, want reminders, or want a person reachable, that is Vocalenda. If you take a very high volume of long calls and never want a meter, Sayora's unlimited minutes are the stronger deal.

Does an AI receptionist work with Outlook, or only Google Calendar?

Two of the five book into Outlook and Microsoft 365 as well as Google Calendar: Ringmere, on its integrations page checked 24 September 2026, and Vocalenda. Sayora names Google Calendar and Cal.com. Clara and Jodie do not describe booking into a calendar during the call on their pages, so the question does not arise for them. None of the five names Jobber, Tradify or ServiceM8 as a direct integration on its published pages. Jobber and ServiceM8 push jobs out to Google Calendar one way, and Tradify pulls Google appointments in one way, so ask your vendor which direction yours goes before you trial anything.

What happens when a customer rings a plumber at 2am with a burst pipe?

All five answer around the clock, and none of them can decide for you whether to get out of bed. Sayora's plumbers page says it takes the details and flags the urgency in a text to you. Ringmere says it marks the call urgent and texts you immediately, and can pass urgent callers straight to your team. Vocalenda follows the emergency instructions you wrote, leaves you a message on the dashboard with a notification, or puts the caller through to the number you set. Clara Pro can transfer live; Jodie sends you the summary by text or email. None of them should be trusted with a script you have not tested: write it, then ring your own number from another phone late one evening and listen.

Is £49 the real price, or an introductory one?

Two of the £49 prices are early-customer prices on the providers' own wording. Sayora describes £49 as an early-access price, the price while it onboards its first customers, which those customers keep as it grows. Vocalenda's £49 is a founding rate for the first ten businesses, locked for as long as they stay subscribed, with £69 the standard price after that. Ringmere's £49 Starter and Jodie's £49 carry no such label on their pages, and Clara's £39.99 is its standard monthly price, with annual billing bringing it to £33.25 a month.
